I guess it is time to spend some money.
I used plastidip on the front and rear badges. They are awesome from 10ft, but not so awesome from upclose.
I had a set of old chromed plastic door handle covers. I used some sand paper and some steel wool first, painted like 6 coats of paint+primer all-in-one, and 3 coats of clean coat, and I can still scratch it with my fingernail.
Slovakian Abarth store to the rescue! I bought parts for my GQ at the same place in 2015 - they still haven’t updated their website :D
I am still in love

In my experience plasti-dip some o just with an almost crinkle finish. Which worked well for the trim pieces I used it on

I completely
removed the chrome off the badges and the grill surround off of my Audi S4. Soaked for a long time in vinegar, I think? Then sprayed it. That worked well.

It worked just fine on the hatch handle. But, it didn’t work well on the badges as they weren’t removed. I might have to remove them, but I’m sort of set on just buying the bi-posto badges like I used to have.

I had a base 500 as a rental a few years ago and enjoyed it. I’d love to drive an Abarth sometime, but I fear the Mustang would get jealous. Or replaced...ha!

Really? Even on plastic pieces?
My biggest fear is the handles are used daily and if the paint wears through it’ll bug me. I can get bi-posto handle covers for 92 euros. I think it’ll be worth it to me.

Once you have the Mustang the way you want it, send me a message and we can go for a cruise, I’ll let you have a spin :)

Yes. My logos and grill surround are chrome plated plastic. Double check the vinegar soak. It’s been a while.
Yeah,
paint might
wear
through on
a high wear point like the handles. Although it might be tougher than you think. You lose nothing by trying the chrome removal and then paint on the handles. If that wears too fast, you’re still in the same position of ordering the new handle covers.

Removing the badges on the Abarth is a pain. Same with the handles. I want it to be one and done. I think I’ll just order the set - Slovakian lady got back to me already.
